Custom Creations | Weddings, Anniversary, Birthday & Holiday Gifts

Ever run into a brick wall when trying to find the perfect wedding gift? Well, I don't mean a literal brick wall, but you've exhausted all of your shopping options and are ready to give up. If you can relate, I can help you! Sassy Glass Studio can custom create the perfect work of art for someone your love or someone you are wearing yourself out shopping for.

Here are three suggestions that are truly one-of-a-kind and will show how much you care. Even if you don't.

Coasters: Coasters are typically sold in a set of four and can be created in lots of color combinations and designs. This is a great choice if you would like to give a color-coordinated gift. Coasters are also available with Fusography. Click the link to find out more about Fusography. Imagine giving someone a gift featuring their own photographs or images from their favorite place. Your gift would definitely be one of their favorites!

Sushi plates, platters and sets: Times have changed and many couples getting married are either already living together or combining two households, so their need for the traditional housewares gifts is limited. How about giving a set of two or more plates or platters colors to coordinate with their dinnerware, so choose something that would be great for entertaining. Be creative with colors and patterns or add full-color Fusography.

Pendants: Small and wallet-friendly, a pendant is the perfect gift for anyone who loves to make a statement with their wardrobe. Or for anyone, like me, who wears a lot of black and needs a splash of color to make it pop. Pendants can be created in almost any color combo and can also include Fusography. Rings can be made to color-coordinate too!

Sneak Peek | Digital Fusography

Sassy Glass Studio is excited to announce the arrival of Digital Fusography. Finally! For over one year I have been researching methods and processes for fusing full-color images permanently to one-of-a-kind glass jewelry and art. Sample pieces using several different types of digital images- people, animals, art, logos and flowers- were created on a base of white glass and are shown below. White does not print so white will almost always be the base color of choice, but it can be edged with a border in a coordinating or contrasting color to add interest to the piece.

The information below is retail/consumer pricing, but wholesale/vendor pricing will be available soon. This is unique product I will be marketing to my fellow photographers in time for the holidays. Contact me at lisa@sassyglassstudio.com for details/pricing before it is posted here.

There's No Place Like Home {one-of-a-kind fused glass art | Knoxville, TN}

I love when customers send me photographs of the fused glass goodness they purchased because it gives me the chance to see how it looks in its new environment and I can really appreciate how they see my work and why they chose it in the first place. The orange platter in the photographs below was the result of a custom creation request I received through the Sassy Glass Studio Etsy shop and was actually made twice. The first platter was destroyed during shipping and, after I stopped crying about it, I created another piece that I personally liked a lot better. The customer loved them both.  She's a super customer and I love that she was so easy going about the whole situation.  The only information she gave me was the color scheme but amazingly when I saw the photos it was neat to see I had almost copied the coral reef design on a pillow. I don't know which came first, the platter or the pillow, but I thought it was really neat.

The platter is made of frit in orange, yellow and green artfully arranged on two layers of clear glass with some of the finer frit between the two layers as well. The use of the frit gives the platter a very dimensional look.  I think I will have to design another platter in a similar design since it is so unique and eye-catching. Oh, and I just realized the coasters in the middle photo are also Sassy Glass Studio creations.

Share images of your Sassy Glass Studio one-of-a-kind fused glass art with me and I will feature it on the blog. I always wonder where folks put their pieces after they receive them so it's nice to see how awesome they look in their new homes.

Sassy Glass Studio Loves You! {one-of-a-kind fused glass art | Knoxville, TN}

Sassy Glass Studio has been very busy creating fused glass goodness, much of which has been custom creations for folks who have found Sassy Glass Studio on Etsy, through Facebook, Twitter, word-of-mouth or this blog; and I am grateful to have so many "fans" of my work. I love each and every one of you! I have also discovered I absolutely love teaching and now offer fused glass classes at both the beginner and intermediate levels in my studio. The look on student's faces when they create their projects is truly priceless. Their excitement fuels my own creativity and fires my passion for creating fresh fused glass art. The classes are a great way to explore a new art, learn new skills and create one-of-a-kind fused glass art to keep or give as gifts. Wouldn't you love to be able to give someone a pendant or set of coasters you made all by yourself?

So, besides creating fused glass goodness and teaching other how to create their own, I am also involved with the Knoxville Creative Hands Street Team (KCHST) which is a collective of Knoxville-area artists and craftspeople selling their handmade goods on Etsy. We are getting ready for our first annual Holiday Show & Sale on November 7th and the fun starts tonight with a Meet and Greet at West Town Mall. Our first Show & Sale was in May and it was fabulous fun. It's a grass roots kind of event that gets everyone involved to spread the word and make it a success. I will be posting more information here, but you can also become a fan of the Knoxville Creative Hands Street Team Facebook page by clicking here or follow us on Twitter. If you would like more information about the KCHST or the Holiday Show & Sale, please contact me at lisa@sassyglassstudio.com.

Lastly, I want to thank all of the wonderful people who have become fans of Sassy Glass Studio and encouraged me to continue to build and expand my fused glass art in new directions and who have featured me on their websites and blogs and in their Etsy Treasuries. It means a lot to me to be recognized by fellow artists and craftspeople and I like to share these little bits of recognition on the Sassy Glass Studio Facebook page and on Twitter.

Now you know what Sassy Glass Studio has been up to lately and I hope you will stop by for a visit again soon!

Unleashing My Creativity in the Studio {one-of-a-kind fused glass art | Knoxville, TN}

Sassy Glass Studio had the opportunity to custom create several fused glass platters, vases and plates for Knoxville law firm, Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz. Here are photographs of the pieces created to coordinate with their office decor. The color palette throughout the office is varying shades of grey and the glass was chosen to compliment those colors as well as accentuate the stunning photography of Senator Howard Baker, senior counsel to the law firm. The orange and white platter, shown below, is a unique addition to the firm's Volunteer Conference Room. This platter is entitled "Tennessee River" and reflects the river's flowing currents.

Sassy Glass Studio :: Thankful Collection 2008

Thankful Collection 2008
Platter $52
Vase $26
Coasters $28
Sassy Glass Studio recently created a new collection just in time for Thanksgiving...literally. I took these pieces out of the kiln on Thanksgiving morning which was a little late for this year's celebration but early enough for next year's turkey dinner. The collection includes a 12 inch square sushi platter, a set of four coasters and a vase/votive holder/serving bowl. I had designed the platter a week or so ago using autumn shades of red, orange and yellow. It is terrific eye-catching color combination that is sure to look great on any table at any time of the year.
Sassy Glass Studio accepts MC/Visa/Checks/Cash and can custom create pieces in your choice of colors.

Check out the Sassy Glass Studio shop for many great Christmas gift ideas.
There's something Sassy for everyone!

Mercy Health Partners Foundation Nautical Mile Auction Creation

I recently created this gorgeous cobalt platter in the signature Sassy Glass Studio open-weave design for the Mercy Health Partners Foundation Nautical Mile Auction this weekend. This is a very striking piece and in addition to the cobalt glass, there is iridescent cobalt and clear glass creating a sparkling surface giving it the effect of the deep blue sea. Very nautical indeed!

Platter measures approximately 14 X 18 and retails for $125.

Banner Elk Fine Art and Craft Show Update

The booth at Banner Elk

Over the weekend of July 19th and 20th Allan and I were in beautiful Banner Elk, North Carolina for the Banner Elk Fine Art and Craft Show. It was a glorious weekend - perfect weather, lots of people getting out of the house and coming to see lots of beautiful, original art from many mediums, and funnel cake. Oddly the funnel cake was only there on Saturday...not sure where it went on Sunday, but there was great barbecue on both days.
Allan and I had a great time at the show and as luck would have it we were directly behind Karen Yearwood of Wound Around Jewelry. Karen makes absolutely fabulous sterling silver and copper jewelry (see her work at http://www.woundaroundjewelry.etsy.com/) and is located right down the street in Clinton, Tennessee. I first met Karen at the Dogwood Arts Festival in April and asked her about making me a pendant that reads "Sassy". I traded Karen a gorgeous platter she fell in love with for my "Sassy" pendant. I will post a photograph of it as soon as it is completed. There were a lot of other great artists there and I particularly liked Regina's silver jewelry too. Allan minded her booth a couple of times for her and there is a photo below of Allan sporting one of her beautiful headbands. If you love folk art, you will love the work of Lisa and Tim Kluttz (see photo below). Brightly colored paintings of a wide variety of cats, dogs, birds and other critters on everyday items such as kitchen cabinet doors and plywood is their specialty.

Allan and I are looking forward to heading up to Beech Mountain on August 2nd for Fred's General Mercantile Crafts on the Green. If you have ever been to Beech Mountain, you've most likely stopped at Fred's. We'll see you there!

This little dude LOVED the gold and silver bracelets, oh yeah, and the magnets too.
