Welcome to Sassy Glass Studio's studio...finally!

My main work space-window looks out to the kiln area and to another window to the outside world

Good news! Sassy Glass Studio has moved!
Welcome to Sassy Glass Studio's new studio!!
The studio is an absolute upgrade over working out of the breakfast nook. Lots of space for all the glass, molds, equipment and not one, but two work spaces. There is even room for all the show inventory, tent, and accessories. No more creating a piece and praying that I don't drop it while I traversed the non-existent steps to get out to the kilns. I have spent some time decorating and Sassifying the space, and although I am nowhere near done, I am just excited beyond all belief to have my own space to work in. No more distractions, no more interruptions, no more shards of glass all over the house. The biggest bonus of all is my little window that opens up right next to the fish pond (I am partially under the ground in the studio) so I can listen to the waterfall while I toil in my non-air conditioned and aptly named "sweatshop".

Be sure to check out the previous post- Banner Elk Fine Art and Craft Show Update...

(From top: Look at all that storage space, books, glass, work area (yes, that is a window!), and my desk/work area and the tip-toe view out my window of the fish pond)

Banner Elk Fine Art and Craft Show Update

The booth at Banner Elk

Over the weekend of July 19th and 20th Allan and I were in beautiful Banner Elk, North Carolina for the Banner Elk Fine Art and Craft Show. It was a glorious weekend - perfect weather, lots of people getting out of the house and coming to see lots of beautiful, original art from many mediums, and funnel cake. Oddly the funnel cake was only there on Saturday...not sure where it went on Sunday, but there was great barbecue on both days.
Allan and I had a great time at the show and as luck would have it we were directly behind Karen Yearwood of Wound Around Jewelry. Karen makes absolutely fabulous sterling silver and copper jewelry (see her work at http://www.woundaroundjewelry.etsy.com/) and is located right down the street in Clinton, Tennessee. I first met Karen at the Dogwood Arts Festival in April and asked her about making me a pendant that reads "Sassy". I traded Karen a gorgeous platter she fell in love with for my "Sassy" pendant. I will post a photograph of it as soon as it is completed. There were a lot of other great artists there and I particularly liked Regina's silver jewelry too. Allan minded her booth a couple of times for her and there is a photo below of Allan sporting one of her beautiful headbands. If you love folk art, you will love the work of Lisa and Tim Kluttz (see photo below). Brightly colored paintings of a wide variety of cats, dogs, birds and other critters on everyday items such as kitchen cabinet doors and plywood is their specialty.

Allan and I are looking forward to heading up to Beech Mountain on August 2nd for Fred's General Mercantile Crafts on the Green. If you have ever been to Beech Mountain, you've most likely stopped at Fred's. We'll see you there!

This little dude LOVED the gold and silver bracelets, oh yeah, and the magnets too.
