Fused Glass Goodness Available at Ijams Nature Center Gift Shop

Happy New Year!

I'm working on my goals and crossing tasks off my to-do list like a boss and it's only the third day of 2017! Although 2016 was a year filled with awesomeness, it was also laced with some not so spectacular events, so I am ready for a clean slate/fresh start/another 365 days to create! I'd love to hear about your goals/plans for this year - please share with me via email or over on the Twitter!

Big news!
Yesterday morning I dropped off a stack of Fusography coasters and a selection of pendants to Ijams Nature Center's Gift Shop. I was asked a year or so ago to put some items in the shop aaaaand I finally got nudged enough so I finally did! So now you can find my fused glass goodness at Southern Market and Ijams.

Here's a sampling of the pieces available at Ijams...

Also, if you've been thinking about taking Beginner Fused Glass Class, I have one scheduled for January 23rd from 2pm to 6pm. Find out more about the class here or email me to reserve your spot!

Lastly, I am STILL working on the Fusography video series and ebook. If you are interested in being the first to know when it is available, please sign up here! I promise it will be worth the wait!

Professional Artist Tent For Sale!

{Click image to view larger}

It's been a couple of years since I have participated in an art show and I've been thinking long and hard about whether or not I will do one again...and I am 99.9% sure I won't, so I am selling my awesome artist tent. This tent has only been set up about a dozen times and is in really great condition. There are a couple of small holes that have been patched and a bit of normal wear and tear. This is one of the most popular tents, a Flourish Trimline Canopy, used by artists all over the country. The informational flyer below shows the tent set up at the Dogwood Arts Festival Art Fair a couple of years ago. It comes with two awnings - one is 30 inches and helps keep the sun (and rain!) out of the front side of the tent and the rear 54-inch awning is perfect if you have room behind your tent to set your chair outside or to allow for some covered storage.

I don't really want to ship the tent because it is big and bulky, but if you are interested and don't live locally, we will ship it for an additional cost. Please contact my husband, Allan, at 865-659-3273 or allan@almphoto.com if you are interested. We will accept cash, money order or credit card.

Please share the flyer with anyone you think may be interested. A used artist tent is a great way to save money when you're getting into art shows.

Thank you!
Lisa

Fusography Video and Ebook : Coming soon!

Good news!
I'm finally out of my aircast/boot and sling! I start physical therapy this week and soon I will be back to mountain biking and working in the glass studio doing more than cutting blanks for coasters and pendants. Straight lines are pretty easy for me even with my non-dominant, right hand, but I'm ready to get creative again. And ride my bikes!

More good news!
Over the last few years, I've had many people inquire if I would teach a class on Fusography and I've thought long and hard about the best way to do this. (Don't know what Fusography is? Read this!) My goal for teaching Fusography properly is to show the whole process for Fusography from creating the digital file to send off to Decals 4 Artists to be turned into the fusible decals to slumping or draping pieces with decals. The awesome folks over at Decals 4 Artists have firing schedules and some helpful tips, but I believe that it is ideal to learn how to do something by doing, but when it is a lengthy process, then the best method is by watching and then doing. An in-person class, like how I teach my Beginner and Intermediate classes, would be great but the whole process for Fusography takes days, not hours, which is why I've decided on a video and ebook. There will be a series of videos demonstrating each part of the process along with helpful tips I've learned along the way. The ebook will have a great step-by-step guide of how to layout the decal sheets, apply the decals, sizing pieces and even some suggestions on pricing. The video and ebook will be ready to launch this summer so stay tuned for updates!

So, if you are interested in learning all about Fusography or would just like to know when I have the video and ebook available, sign up here to be the first to know!

And, if you want to get monthly updates on new items and sales, sign up here!

Check out the newest Fusography designs in the Etsy shop! In the next few weeks, I will be stocking some new Fusography designs on my shelf in the Handmade shops at Southern Market too!

Summer Fusography Designs in the Sassy Glass Studio Etsy Shop!

And the sale goes on and on and on....

I'm still healing so the Spring Break Price Break continues!

I've been unable to work in the glass studio while my leg and elbow fractures heal, but I've been busy searching for the perfect designs (on Etsy of course!) to use in the creation of new Fusography pieces! There are so many talented graphic designs out there! I love to use digital papers for my pieces because they usually feature a repeated design and are already square like most of the pieces I create. I'm loading the Etsy shop up with coasters, but any of the designs can be turned into plates, platters, pendants, rings and more! Call, email or social media message me for a price quote!

Check out the new designs below or click here to purchase in the Etsy shop!

SNEAK PEEK - these will be added to the shop soon!

If you are interested in learning how to create your own Fusography fused glass pieces, I will be creating a video and ebook to walk you through the entire process from ordering the decals to firing your creations. Sign up here to be notified when the video and ebook are available this summer! Find out more about the Beginner and Intermediate Fused Glass Classes I offer here.

Sassy Glass Studio Spring Break Price Break!

The birds are singing. The grass is growing.
The weather is perfect to get outside and be active. And I'm hobbling around in an aircast/boot and a sling. It's the getting active that did me in about a month ago. A combination of downhill mountain biking and trail running gave me a sprained elbow, a sprained ankle, a fractured elbow and a fractured leg. Yup, and bruises too. But I'm not one to dwell on the downside of things, so my breaks equate to a price break for you!

The elbow fracture is on the bone in the bend of my elbow in the x-ray and
the leg fracture is on my fibula, on the left-facing side of my ankle in the x-ray.
Cool, huh?!

Why a price break? Well, because of the elbow I can't work in the glass studio to produce new pieces, but the Etsy shop is stocked with fused glass goodness that would love to find its way into your home or onto your body. So, think of this as a winning combination of Spring cleaning and helping me take my mind off of the fact that I can't wield my glass cutter and fire up the kiln for the next 5 weeks. I need all the distractions I can get these days!

Here's how you can take advantage of my break(s)! Haha! I couldn't resist. Let's try this again.

Sassy Glass Studio Spring Break Price Break Sale

(that's better, huh? and I got in two breaks...)

Step 1: Shop the Sassy Glass Studio Etsy shop

Step 2: Use coupon code BREAK (that was easy!) to save 25% off your entire purchase (not including the shipping)*

Here's a sample of some of the fabulous fused glass items you will find in the shop! Take a break and shop!

*Please note that many of the Fusography pieces are created when ordered (see the listing description) and while you may purchase them during the Sassy Glass Studio Spring Break Price Break Sale and save 25%, you will not receive them for about 8 weeks. I will keep buyers abreast of my recovery in case it's quicker than expected, but the orthopedic doctor said 6 weeks and that will be about the end of April. As soon as I am able I will be creating the new Fusography pieces. If you have any questions about timeframes, please email me at lisa@sassyglassstudio.com. All other pieces are created and ready to be shipped!

And, if you are interested in learning how to create your own fused glass goodness, I will begin teaching beginner and intermediate classes again in May (it was April, but injuries!). At this time, I do not teach a class in the Fusography method as it is a long process and would take about a week to cover. I will, however, be creating a Fusography video and an ebook on the process that will be available for sale. Sign up HERE if you'd like to be notified when the video and ebook will be available.

Give the Best Gift Ever! Fusography!

Does finding the perfect gift drive you a little crazy?

How many times have you wandered a store, physically or virtually, looking for the perfect gift for someone special? Doesn't it bum you out when you can't seem to find that "one special thing" that is not only unique, but that you know they will love, and is within your gift-giving budget. I pretty sure we've all been there. Nobody wants to feel crappy because they can't find the perfect gift. Not everyone is gifted, pardon the pun, in their ability to find that "one special thing". But there is good news for you, I have the solution and it will kick the butt of all the other gift givers!

Problem / Solved

Several years ago I was trying to figure out a way to incorporate my fused glass art with my photography so I could offer my ALM Photo clients unique ways to display and gift the images I had taken. For months, I searched the Interwebz looking for a company that offered custom made, fusible decals of my photos and about the time I was ready to give up, I found one. Some of you may already be familiar with the story of how Fusography came about, but for those of you just finding out about Sassy Glass Studio and the awesomeness of Fusography it was one of the happiest days of my life. I am pretty sure I did a little dance! Now, not only could I create one-of-a-kind fused glass art as I had been for several years, but I could add a photo or other graphic (illustrations and any other artwork that can be turned into a digital format) to make pieces that were one-of-a-kind on a whole new level.

Being able to create these unique pieces got me thinking about all the possibilities! Need an awesome gift for that hard to shop for relative- I've got you covered; want to wow the newlyweds with a piece that perfectly matches their style- I've got you covered; want to give matching gifts to bridesmaids, girlfriends, sorority sisters, family members- I've got you covered. The possibilities are truly endless!

So, if you are looking to give a gift or create a piece of art that will share a special moment, match a decor or tell a story, I'd love to talk with you and work to create some one-of-a-kind Fusography fused glass goodness. I can create items from jewelry to wall hangings and trays, so there is pretty much something for everyone.

My Etsy shop has a Fusography section which mostly showcases pendants, rings and coasters as those are very popular pieces that appeal to my customers but, as I mentioned above there are lots of differents designs I can create. Any image that you have copyright permission to print can be turned into a Fusography piece of art.

Sky Blue | Featured in the Etsy Shop

The rain has been falling in nearly every day for a week in East Tennessee but every so often, when I glance up from my work, I see some blue sky peeping out from the grey clouds. When I was checking in on my Etsy shop earlier today, I noticed quite  of my fused glass items were the color of a bright blue sky and I thought I would share some here to brighten your day and mine too!

Most of these pieces are available, so if you see something you like and it's not in the Etsy shop let me know. Some of this fused glass goodness hasn't made it to the shop yet!

Celebrate the Fourth of July safely and enjoy some time with friends and family! I'll be out and about, hopefully on my mountain bike at some point. All this rain has made for sloppy trails that need time to drain and dry.
